Many fruits and veggies do well in containers. You need to research the light needed for each one and the temperature. An indoor plastic Greenhouse with grow-lights might be your solution if you have the room.
Gosh i would guess you can do pots in the house, especially if you use plant lights. I'd start with easy potted varieties and see what you can do. It's certainly worth a try!
