No, roses will tolerate, and do better by pruning. If they are budded you will of course lose those flowers, but new shots will come out. Fertilize, and put a little Epsom salts around each bush.
Hard pruning should be done be February 14th; shaping should be okay. Be sure to trim at a 45 degree angle 1/4 inch above an outward facing leaf With at least 5 leaves on it.
If you prune the roses not you will be cutting off the flowers. Pruning should be done before any new growth emerges or after the bush has stopped flowering.
