Live near lake erie? That will not help others that do not no where that is
Lake Erie is one of the five Great Lakes, so a lot of people do know where it is. If you're ever in the area, go to Niagara Falls--a wonder of the world.
You can do a search for Clematis, zone 5. There are many that will grow there. Also, hops makes a nice arbor plant, and it flowers, too. It's used to make beer, so if you know someone who likes to do home brewing, great!
If you get enough sun, some climbing roses. Wisteria, too, but it needs a strong structure.
Thanks for the ideas Ellis! And I didn't know that hops had flowers - interestIng! Also thanks for your comment about the Great Lakes - I kind of assumed a lot of people would know where Lake Erie was.
Honeysuckle and Trumpet vine
Honeysuckle
Thanks everyone for your suggestion. Can't wait until I can get out there and plant!
