Could u try to post a picture? Are the mirrors framed?
If you can remove it from the wall( it would be easiest to work on) or not, you can do this. Either way, if the mirrors can be removed it makes the finishing process easier.
If you cannot remove the mirrors, mask off the mirror area very carefully. If you are not good with painters tape, get some 2 inch and put the tape touching both the mirror and the frame and then use a single edge razor blade to cut close to the frame.
If you can get the blade laying on the glass and inserted into/behind the frame and carefully cut a line all the way around. Then, cover the entire mirror with tape and (news)paper.
Get some 220 sandpaper and gently sand any finish off the wood/metal. Then sand again with a 360-400 sandpaper to remove most of those scratches from the previous sand paper.
From there it is whatever your desire in terms of what you want to finish the frame with: paint (plain, two tone, multi-tone, pattered) wrap with paper, glue on aluminum foil and tint or, any other idea you can find you like on the internet.
Shouldn't take more than half a day to complete unless you get really fancy on the finish.
Or, you could use a really good glue and glue sea shells on or, whatever, again, you find on the internet. Any interesting picture/photo/artwork/door/window frame you find appealing might inspire you to complete this small project.
Good luck and share.
Hi, I have the same problem!! So, I am eager to see what all ya'll recommend!
Don, those are some great ideas. I wish I had Granyjane's mirrors. I haven't seen those in a long time. Please post what you do with the mirrors. Best wishes!
We have a big mirror over our vanity in the bathroom.....behind it is a closet and we put a mirror on the back of the closet door....when that closet door is open we can see our hair in the back. Depends on how your room is arranged if this would work.
