Its always best to use an outdoor sealant for outdoor furniture to make sure that it can stand up to the elements- best of luck!

Good point! I thought I had read otherwise but it didn't seem reasonable to me.
If you want the paint to get a natural weathered look then you don't have to seal it. But it will definitely "weather", so if you don't want that look then definitely take the time to apply an outdoor sealer.
It's an old chair that will be on a covered porch so I'm going to put wax on it and will probably reapply as needed. I didn't want a polyurethane look. Thanks
