I can recommend Spreading Yews as sturdy green shrubs that grow low to the ground and spread a little. They do not require maintenance unless you choose to trim like a bonsai. Also floating lotus flowers in your pond or water feature. very Asian. Good luck!

You can plant azaleas, hostas, ferns, bambo and moss low maintenace shrubs. A water pond with lotus is a beautiful Asain feature. Good Luck on your Asian garden.
best advice is go to pinterest.com and look at pictures of japanese or asian gardens....I get most of my inspiration from looking at pictures on this site....best of all it's free
Also look on Amazon I got some Awesome seeds a few months back. It does take a wile to get them so be prepared.
