If you want to build a conduit, or raise or lower the ceiling, I don't have an answer. But if the pipes are staying where they are, I have a couple of suggestions. Try to find out if all the pipes are actually connected and in use. In some houses, remodeling and repairs may leave some pipes in place, but not connected to anything. Pull those out of the way. Next try to make sure all of the pipes that need to be wrapped or insulated, are. Of course, if you see any damage or leaks, that would be the time to get them repaired. Now the fun part: depending on the height and your ability, you or someone else can spray paint the whole pipe corridor. Black or metal to look industrial. Gray or white to blend in. Pink, red, aqua, blue, yellow--if that would make you happy. You have several options. I hope you share your progress. Best wishes!
use them as part of the decorating scheme. they would look great with an industrial theme
I just went through a walk out basement and the entire ceiling was painted black. It was a nice look and I do recommend it. Leaves everything open for easy access if needed but still appears finished. The walls were white.
We had the same issue...I took material and draped it..stapled it so you could still access and done! Looked like That 70's Show :-)
If you have room for one, install a drop ceiling. You can get nice looking modern ones now.
Thank you all for you suggestions. A friend gave me another idea to paint all the hot water pipes red and cold water pipes blue. air ducts turquise and electric conduit yellow and sewer lines black. Sounds fun but still haven't decided what to do. Please keep the ideas coming.
You can hide everything with white plastic lattice. Easy to attach and easy to remove when you need to access anything.
great idea
