Sorry I hit the wrong letter..its moss
never mind the moss, a small teaspoon of white vinegar in the dogs drinking water stops the uring from burning the grass
Moss likes wet and shady areas to grow.
put moss in the blender with some buttermilk. blend well. pour over whatever you want moss to grow on.
I thank you for the suggestion..my dogs would not drink it when I did that...I couldn't believe it..one of them turned the water bowl over..twice! I wish it had worked! Thanks again
Try clover instead of moss. I have turned my yard into mostly clover. It's cooler to the touch (I'm a barefoot person) & I will swear it make the yard cooler over all by not reflecting the heat back to house/ or it doesn't retain the heat in the ground. (Really don't care which it is, this is just what it does IMHO.) There is less mowing because of the way it grows. The dogs have yet to 'yellow' the clover. I have left a patch of grass which gets yellowed every so often but I have one dog who is a grazer (ever since he saw a goat grazing -- monkey see monkey do) so I have left him his grazing area. When this grass area gets a little tall, it's time to cut it all and the clover is about half the height. Clover has a max height & will not turn into what may look like a hay field if not mowed as grass does. All I did was rake the yard to get all the loose grass up and skim the top of the dirt under it to loosen the soil a bit. (Almost like thatching I guess some might call it.) Sprinkled the seed right before it rained (didn't want it to be bird food & wanted to use natural water sprinkling). It has nearly taken over the entire yard. (Yay!) It grows in sun & shade. It's green. Don't know how beautiful your grass is, besides the yellow spots, or how thick. My yard has a variety of grasses including that variety which is the last to turn green in the spring and the first to turn brown in the fall. (Depressing. Looks dead for too long.) There is less mowing and this benefit works for me. (BTW, the only place I have ever seen moss grow in a large area and growing best was in rocky areas, in highly shaded areas, or watery areas. But also I haven't been looking for it either.) Good Luck!
