Section off an area for the dogs with there own space.

  • Have you looked into xeriscaping? I have 3 dogs, neighbors have 3 dogs and I have 6 cats, so I hear you on keeping a nice yard. I do have lawn for them, and trained them to do their business in a portion of the yard, one for easy maintenance by me and two so they could have the rest to run and play.

Draw out a plan on paper or computer and choose pet friendly plants and shrubs. When you see something you like, Google it to see if pet friendly. A good nursery will be able to assist too. I always like to add a tree or two if not already existing in your current landscape. Make sure you add in seating or entertaining space. And if at all possible add in or modify existing sprinkler / drip system to keep everything well watered.

Poke around here on Hometalk and also on Pinterest or just Google backyard landscape or landscaping with dogs and see what tickles your fancy. I am sure you will find and make your yard beautiful for you and your family and dogs too!
