There are many hydrangea that like shade, oak leaf among them. These could go in the back. In front, astilbe provide dramatic interest and color. Hosta come in all sizes and colors. Japanese grass are beautiful gold leaves that would be pretty on the wall. In the early spring, crocus would bring a nice bit of color. Sweet woodruff is a beautiful low growing ground cover. Impatience are a colorful shade loving annual.

For shade perennials....Heuchera they come in a variety of different color,Hostas,Liriope,Bleeding Heatrs,Black mondo grass,hinoki variegated grass....mix in some coldful annuals as well....new guniea impatience,non-stop begonia,calidum,and coleus.
Hydrangea (oak leaf) for the back, astilbe in front of them, hosta comes in many sizes and colors, sweet woodruff makes a pretty edge, impatience add tons of color. Crocus provides early color. Coleus also provides a lot of interest.
Boston Ivy is a very good choice. I guess you can plant climbing hydrangea and vinca minor. I hope this helps you
