Azaleas love pine trees and come in many colors.
What plants are you looking for annuals, perennials,or shrubs?
Hostas
but if you live where there are deer, forget it! They are like salad to them.
Rhododendrons do well, and deer don't eat them. I have violets, lily of the valley, hardy fuschias, ferns and azaleas under my pine/fir trees. Haven't seen the deer eating any of the above, except the grass and one fuschia bush in the fall.
how about a climber like wysteria
Ooooooooh Love that!
Do not put climbers under pine trees,they will kill them.You have a few shade options...for perennials...ferns,heater,host astilbe....for annuals...new guniea impatience,non-stop begonia,coleus,wishbone flower,caladium.
