How about "silver carpet" - sedum - creeping thyme? All three are very low maintenance, would look good with stepping stones and yard art and no mowing! You might want to look into xeriscaping, very pretty, does not have to be expensive and also low maintenance.
Creeping sedums available in assortment of color and portulaca.
How about Purslane it pretty and low maintenance no mowing has multicolored flowers.
