A sponge or flat brush is best- have fun!
I agree, and would use the foam or sponge type brushes. Less chance of bubbles.
Make sure you use decoupage glue for napkins. I learned the hard way that regular Mod Podge is too thick and tears them.
I agree with the sponge brush. Word of caution if the napkin is like tissue paper there is bound to be wrinkles because it is so thin. If it is a little thicker than use a clear acrylic sealer and spray both sides and allow to dry. Once you do that your decoupage will turn out perfect.
Definitely a sponge brush, apply a light coat of modpoge to your box. Then place the napkin on carefully smoothing it out. After the modpoge is dry apply another coat on top.

How did it turn out? some other tips are after you place napkin on take a piece of saran wrap and stretch across to push out wrinkles or put your hand inside sandwich bag and gently go over...
