You obviously need some color introduced to perk up that brown look. Accessories is where it's at when you want a bang for your buck. Turquoise is a great go to color, pillows, etc. just pick a color you love, and everything goes with brown, and throw in items of that color. Try doing some DIY projects to make the room your own,
You can never go wrong with colorful throw pillows or a colorful rug.
Hello Stacey, I like the idea of a colorful rug. Also those mirrors should be relocated somewhere else in the house. Hang some pictures with a dominant color to match the rug and a few throw pillows as well. Hope this helps.
I agree the mirror should be somewhere else or sold. Blue is a great complimentary color but I would go with robin egg blue on the wall and throw pillows so the room won’t look so dark. You don’t say if you have windows, open area that includes kitchen and dining room, so we (any of us) can only answer based on brown sofa and cabinet. How large is this particular area? How many walls are painted cream in this area?
Have you thought about painting the walls?
I'd probably put the mirrors together on one wall. Mirrors make rooms look bigger. Whatever color you're going with as your main accent color(s), use those colors to paint some small, but noticeable, designs on the mirrors. It's not a big deal if u mess up or don't like it cuz u can scrape of the design with a razor blade.
Accessorize! Look at decor magazines or furniture store catalogs for ideas. You have the "bones" of the room already. You just need to work on a few details! A few carefully selected pieces of art, plants, area rugs - work wonders!
You could mount the TV on the wall and put the stand under it, reuse it or get rid of it.
Use colour to brighten up the room. Paint in light colours , accessorize with colours, frame the mirrors or get rid of them depending on how bad they are. There are so many ways to bright up your room.
Hi Stacey,
Rug, Cushions, Art in bright cheery colours (Orange Turquoise, Gold) etc.
