Salvaged wood lends to a beachy feel. Inexpensive decor such as seashells, driftwood, etc. Casual bedding in muted beach color tones and flowy/airy curtains or bamboo shades, pillows for accent. Wicker is also a choice for a beach feel. Possibly a wall mural or large art posters.
Paint it a cool beach color
Do not be afraid to try new things. We all mess things up occasionally. The beauty is you can rip it apart and make it over again. Start small with one little project at a time, the more you do, the better you will get. Just pick a project and start!
Try not to let it scare you. I used to be intimidated by all the craft ideas out there too, but once you jump in, you'll find the only thing to fear is becoming hooked. LOL The beach themed bedroom is popular, so there are lots of ideas out there. Begin with projects that aren't so "permanent" and overwhelming. Add some accents to get you started, sea shells, driftwood pieces, maybe a beach in a jar. Pillows, sheer curtains, and maybe a small rug in beach colors you like. I think once you get started, your creativity will take off and you'll be pleased with what you can do. Good luck!
Hi Shawn, You get your biggest bang for your buck with paint. I recommend painting your room a shade of blue with a white accent. You could use bedding to compliment these colors. Then use pops of colors with pillows and pictures. I think coral would be nice. Hope this helps.
Hi Shawn, What you need is an inspiration piece, like a piece of fabric, a Seahorse, anything that you can build on. Using your coastal fabrics on a side chair and or making throw pillows is a good start! Just remember, this is suppose to be fun. Don't stress over it. Take your time and start within your comfort zone, then branch out from there!! I agree a nice paint color, and use some shells to decorate. Maybe glued around a big mirror, or made into a wind chime. I have a lot of them in a really large mason jar.
Traditional white:)
Really great ideas....I would add the following: make a "new" lamp by wrapping and gluing rope around the base of a lamp. Also, anything nautical would fit in with your idea.....an anchor or a compass, etc. Have fun!
I used a light blue for the walls and white for the ceiling. I had purchased a few things at a garage sale, the Goodwill and shells. I had found a shadow box and put the shells inside and hung it on the wall. You can make a wreath froman old one from Goodwill and rake it apart, then glue in moss from trees, thenadd your shells with a hot glue gun. It is very simple. Hope this helps you.
Hi Shawn, I didn't know thrift stores sold paint. Did you get it at Goodwill? Or was it a local independent?
