You can usually easily remove the p-trap under the sink, heat the tube a bit with a blow dryer and then use a bottle brush to clean it right out.
Otherwise, you will have to see if a drano gel can break down the wax... sorry.
Try this. Heat water in a teapot to boiling and pour it down the sink. Immediately pour in a 1/2 cup of baking soda followed by a 1/2 cup of white vinegar. Cover the drain with a plug and let the solution work for an hour. Flush again with a teapot full of boiling water. This should do the trick.
Hi Ericka, if the wax is in the sink you can just use a plastic scraper to get most of it loose. For the drain the easiest thing, if you don't want to take the sink apart and retrieve it, is boiling water. If you want to save energy you could boil a pot of pasta and pour that water down the drain. The hot water from your sink will take care of the residual wax. I think it should take care of your problem. Good luck!
I HAVE THE ANSWER, You must remove the p trap. You don't need tools because the plastic pipes under kitchen sink are ONLY SUPPOSED TO BE HAND TIGHTENED. I tried the boiling water for hours on end and nothing happened. FIRST REMOVE ALL WATER FROM SINK. Dump it outside because it will still have wax residue. EMPTY EVERYTHING FROM UNDER THE SINK. So nothing gets wet and you have enough room to work. GET A LARGE POT AND PUT IT UNDER THE U SHAPED PIPE. Get a towel as well that you want to throw out or paper towels because the excess water in pipe will have wax in it. BE CAREFUL BECAUSE THE WATER MAY BE 🔥 DEPENDING IF YOU TRIED BOILING WATER FIRST. --------- LOOSEN THE U SHAPED PIPE FROM BOTH ENDS TO REMOVE PIPE------- THROW OUT EXCESS WATER AND BOIL CLEAN WATER AND BOIL
THE U SHAPE PIPE UNTIL ALL WAX COMES OUT. LASTLY REPLACE PIPE AS TIGHT AS YOU CAN WITH YOUR ✋.
