Hi Irma, Establish a barrier around your home with a pesticide perimeter treatment. This treatment can prevent fleas and ticks from migrating into your home, although they can still hitch a ride on you or your pet. Remove brush, plants and leaf litter around your home, aiming for at least a 6-inch-wide clean area.

Hi Irma! Without knowing what kind of area you live in...I can tell you that any Vet can supply you with a spray to kill ticks and I am sure it will kill flies too. I live in the Caribbean and our ticks do not carry diseases that affect humans for the most part...but they can kill your pets. While I do not like chemicals of any kind...I do spray the perimeter of my property with a spray I get from the Vet because we have loose cattle that come near my fence. They carry ticks and in some areas a tick called the Ambiola (not sure of the spelling) tick can cause problems. But you need to keep going at it. Do not just spray once. Also keep your animals bathed with some kind of tick/flea shampoo and if I see them on my dogs or cats...I put some of the shampoo in my mop bucket and mop the floor with it. Ticks are nasty creatures and you do not want them in your home. Keep your eyes open also for swollen ticks...kill them immediately as that means they are going to have hundreds of babies! Good luck. PS...warn children to stay away from the sprayed area.

Hi Irma, chickens and guinea pigs love eating ticks and fleas, perhaps you can get a few? If you can't keep them in your yard, you can also use diatomaceous earth. This article will give you more information on why and how it works - https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/what-is-diatomaceous-earth
