spider wart
i call it Garr and its extremely aggressive
I think it may be a plant called spiderwort. The most common variety is deep purple - but it can also be found in pink and white. I cannot see the leaf well - spiderwort has a slender "spiky" green.
not spelling name the correct way
Widow's tears.
Morning Glory looks completely different. It's spiderwort
Spiderwort
Definitly not morning glory.
Spiderwort
Zig-zag Spiderwort (Tridescantia Subaspera) Grow prolifically in the south.
Morning Glories are usually twining or climbing plants with trumpet shaped flowers that open in the morning and whither by midday. The blooms vary by color and size, and are beautiful (imo)
These are called spiderworts. They come in purple mostly, but I do have a few pink ones. They multiply like crazy.
They are not morning glories. My mom called them " Meet Me At the Garden Gates." Usually purple flowers but I have a few that bloom white.
These grew wild in our pastures on the ranch. There were also wild bluebells growing. Very beautiful little flowers, both of them. They are NOT weeds!
It is spiderwort and I hate it. The flowers are pretty but only last for a couple of days and then the plant looks terrible. It spreads like crazy and I pull it out every time it comes up. It will take over your garden.
Here in Florida it is a horrible weed. Obviously my weeds may be someone's beautiful flowers.
Its supposed to be a plant called widows tears but yes it an aggressive weed here in FL, a neighbor put some in his yard years ago and I still am trying to remove it from mine.
Thank you all! It seems the prior owners have this one contained, it's only in this area and we've lived here for a little under a year. The flowers have been opening and closing for a few weeks now. Maybe the previous owners did something to stop them from spreading, although I wouldn't see it as a bad thing.
Flags..very invasive, but blue is a difficult color sometimes to get as long term blooming plants,
morning glories do open and close as you mention but so do wood rose. They look like a wild violet
Spiderwort. I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and I have several in my garden. You can split them in the spring to get more clumps
Spider wort. Invasive in subtropical climates. Much less so where it is cooler.
Spiderwort
I believe there are two types. One that spreads vigorously and one that behaves itself. I had it once where it was well behaved. What I now have in Eastern Oregon is a weed! Can't get rid of it! We dig and dig and dig. We have Sandy soil here, so it spreads quite easily and reseeds easily as well.
Spiderwort has healing properties like aloe vera. Break off a flower stem and you will find it very similar. There are many medicinal uses for spiderwort, and is edible.
I have it in my yard too and it is spiderwort
I have it in the yard, it is called Widows Tears
Spider wort...wish I had some on the hill side. A no mow solution.
no it is spider wort
I also have one in my flower bed for years already it didn't spread much and people comment on how pretty the flowers are
