No, water and soap will remove oils that keep the leather soft and flexible. It will dramatically reduce the lifespan of your shoes.

Yes, machine washing is fine..... pull the insole out from the shoe if possible for better cleaning. To dry pull tongue forward and clip down with cloths pin. Do NOT put them in the dryer or sun. Just park the in a well ventilated area to dry.
