Hardy hibiscus plant.
looks like a Rose of Sharon.
Rose of Sharon
Beautiful!! Hardy hibiscuses are quite different from tropical hibiscuses. The flowers are usually much larger, dinner plate size, ranging in size from 6 to 12 inches across. But, the color range is more limited -- primarily shades of red, rose, pink and white. The leaves are larger and are dull rather than shiny.

Look up hibiscus on the internet, there are some that have big flowers. The only thing different is that the plant looks really short for a hibiscus, unless it is the perennial type that is shorter in stature.

IT'S A HARDY HIBISCUS , THERE FLOWERS ARE PLATE SIZE.
THEY COME IN DIFFERENT COLORS, THE RED IS GORGEOUS
Rose of Sharon
They are called dinner plate hibiscus.
hardy hibiscus. When they go dormant in the winter (it will appear they have totally died), cut their the "dead" stalks all the way back to the soil. They will grow new in the spring. One of my favorite plants for ground or large pots.
i will also add...the blooms (individually) will only last a couple of days, but will produce more. However, the large blooms will drop and they are a bit ugly and odd looking.
Aside from the very center it does have the same look as a Matilija Poppy. I've only ever seen one EVER.
