Really, you can simply nail it on. My friend just did an entire wall coming in from the garage directly nailing it on the wall. She painted it and it looks professional and gorgeous.
Just be sure to use the corect nails for the wood you are using. Will look beautiful!
I used an electric brad nailer. I also added a little caulking to the back of each as adhesive prior to nailing it to the wall. Just make sure your boards are level. Best of luck.

if you don't have a nail gun, you can just hammer the nails in. Finishing nails, though they don't have a head on them, should be just fine. I've got a lot of it in my home and the most important thing is making certain your board is level. It's a breeze and fun!
