Patriotic Old Glory Wreath in 5 Minutes

Growing up my Father always flew the flag for National holidays. I remember sitting on the front porch and watching the flag blow in the breeze and it always made me so thankful and proud.

When I first bought my house I also bought a flag. Over the years I've continued the tradition of my Father and I've gone through quite a few flags having them wear out and I've always retired them properly but this year, I had a flag that I could no longer fly because of small rips and tears and instead of retiring it I decided to display it a little differently than normal, as a wreath.
You'll need an old flag. This one is a polyester blend and I do think that a cotton/fabric flag would look better but use whichever one you have. It's all good.
You'll also need a grapevine wreath. I recycled one that I had used to make an autumn wreath. There was one stubborn hydrangea that refused to come off so I just left it in place and worked around it. I actually like the vintage look it gives to the wreath. You'll also need some raffia which is super inexpensive.
Position the flag, stars to the left, on the front of the wreath and fold the edge to the back holding in place with safety pins.
Next, drape the flag across the wreath. When the other side intersects with the wreath edge, grab that and tightly tie with raffia, then wrap the raffia around the wreath as well anchoring everything nicely together.
Tie a blow and allow the raffia edges to flow with the stripes down the side of the wreath. Hang on your door and enjoy!
