Good luck!
I have had many cats in my lifetime and find that's just part of pet ownership. There will always be litter spilling over or being tracked around - especially if your cat dislikes enclosures. Just sweep it up and if the litter is still clean, deposit it back in the pan.
Have you tried an actual cat mat? They work pretty good because they help take the litter off of their feet as they walk out of the box. You can even put it over the rug you already use. If you do decide to change your cat litter there are some good all natural products that will attract your cat to the box, no dust but may not control odor as well.
My don has a hybrid cat and you can't use clay litter with them because of the dust. He uses one of the litters that uses wood and there is little found on the floors around the litter pan. She also dislikes the covered pans, but found that a lot of them also have higher sides. He gets the covered ones, just does not use the top.
If you keep the litterbox in the bathroom anyway, why don't you put the box in the tub? That will contain any stray litter.
Get a dog!
I have 2 cats and 4 boxes.....2 for each cats. They will pee in one poop in the other.kittylitter crystals are great for odor control. I put a scoop from an old quart pan in the bottom of the litter box....then the clay litter.
Instead of a rug try a litter mat with texture
Thanks to all of you who had some good advice. If I find a workable better solution I'll let you know.
Necco sounds like she has a very good home! I wish all cats were so lucky ... dogs too!
