There's a hack on hometalk that is so cute to hide your dog crate. They made a pretty side table and the dog crate is hidden inside the bottom of it. Check it out! It's something they converted I think but I do remember it is so pretty that you'd never know it had a dog crate built inside it and it just looks like a higher end piece of furniture in their living room. The top of it looked and was decorated the same as a regular side table complete with lamp and etc. I've also seen another hack (same place) where they hid their dog crate inside the base of their kitchen island ( inside a cabinet that they had either cut air slits in or added a wooden air vent in the door and it was located on one end of the island. It too you couldn't tell was their pets bed. Both ideas were really cute, functional and tastefully done. Check them out!
I love this one- hiding the crate in a night stand or end table http://www.hometalk.com/diy/bedroom/furniture/going-to-the-dogs-diy-dog-crate-nightstands-15206287
Going to the Dogs--DIY Dog Crate Nightstands
Consider that if it is totaly enclosed other than the opening, you will have an odor build up. It needs some ventilation top, back and sides.
Here's what we did with our two crates. Gorgeous end tables, and the dogs hang out with us (I leave the door open during the day).
I also buy memory foam bath mats that fit my large crates perfectly. Washable, and comfy for the dogs to lie on.
This is a great idea , they love to be around you and this really fits the bill ,Well done !
Staple fake tropical plants from dollar tree
don't have dogs- but i have 2 cats. If i cant find a cat sitter i've been known to thak the cats camping with me. I made pads for their crates from a thrift store sleeping bag.
if you are familiar with a sewing machine, each metal panel is your pattern. start with to top of the crate. measure each panel of the crate and add seem allowance., and hem allowance. if you want the front of the crate covered do that end too. cut material for the 4 side panels, add a bit of extra fabric for the front door end panel -you will make the front a flap type door and will need to be hemmed on 3 sides. sew the 4 side panels to the top panel. check fit. adjust as necessary.

cheat- use a large sheet and wrap the crate as a you would a birthday gift, leaving the door end and bottom uncovered. secure the fabric with safety pins.
Mine are never crated, but HAVE to sleep in theirs! so I used an inexpensive 42" door and turned the kennels end to end - it covered the top and I painted it pretty! and then, they outgrew their kennels so the table top is with someone else and I have 2 hug plastic airline kennels to try and diguise! Good luck!
Weave a wide ribbon or burlap thru the wires on each level, leaving the end with the door open. You can even cover the top this way. Seal ribbon ends with hot glue.
My question is why cover them? Just keep them clean and scatter them around the den. No house is complete without a large dog crate! LOL
Lol their xxlarge and thought my babies don't get crates they sleep in them. just getting ideas ive been looking at them for 10 yrs and looking to change it up a bit
Here is what we did for our Great Dane...
Hi Laura, if you're crafty, you could do something like this.

If you crate your dogs, make sure there is adequate ventilation. And you want to the dogs to be able to see out. I would put the crates in another room, if you do not like the way they look in the room you have them in. Out of site out of mind. I personally do not crate my puppy. But have one that he uses for solitude when he wants to get away from it all. I leave the door open at all times.
Here's some ideas:

I would use thin wood slats to make a frame around them about 1-1/2" apart. Use a 1 x 2 and staple the slats to the backs, surround cage on the two sides and top creating an upside down U shape. This disguises the cage and still allows proper ventilation.
