Well you could use a ground cover plant or moss over dirt even some low growing herbs so that when you step it releases fragrance. Otherwise it will just be mud. You ,in my humble opinion either need to provide more information of what you mean, and what you are trying to achieve? If you mean like a paver covered patio no can't do it you have to allow proper drainage which is labor intensive and requires gravel and sand to make it level and you need to make sure that you place oh that border stuff that is black that will hold paver in place. You could also cover dirt with weed fabric item to keep them out and place border and add stones and maybe a few walking paver to direct your steps toward table or swing. But stones will allow water to drain. Always making sure that either one allows water to drain away from home. I would Google for ideas and tutorials.
Do you want to make the patio from dirt, or do you plan to put something on the dirt? Hard to understand what you want without a little more information.
Are you WANTING to make a backyard space out of dirt? That's all, nothing else? 🤔 I guess I'm not understanding what you want.
Eroque had the ideas that come to mind.
I can show you pictures of what I did for about $50. I used cheap pavers and 2 different colored rubber mulch and it was easy. I had never designed or put in a patio before, but I think it turned out nice. I used sand to look like grout. Before and afters. It only took me an afternoon to do.
I bought them at Home Depot. They were like .45 a pc. We also have 2 builder's surplus stores near me, they have all sorts of things for cheap. And, the rubber mulch was on sale for $2.50 a bag, It only took three bags for the patio surround.
Thank you. I got everything from Home Depot. I think I paid .45 for the pavers, the rubber mulch was $2.50 a bag. And, I bought a tamper, for packing the dirt after I dug out a little bit so the patio would be level with the ground.
