Help design my white washed brick fireplace mantle
I need ideas for my white washed brick fireplace mantle. Every day decor.
Check out tiles for the base, if the top is brick, panel or drywall over it and paint the same as the walls, one shade darker or cordinate or contrast with the tile
do you know if color of original brick was a red or orange? either would work with current color scheme...you could repaint or try to remove the white...you may like leaving some of the white instead of working for a perfect strip of old paint . Maybe do a light wash if strip does not do the job so it looks intentional not like a strip gone bad. Good luck.
> think i would start out by painting thhe grout a dove grey, migght do enough to tone it down, if not use sea sponge to put same paint on bricks, using a dabbing method.
Make your fireplace the focal point...paint it darker or add the faux Austin stone...or both...
I would suggest painting it with the dove grey It should be just enough to take the white overload out
You could use some stripper, a scraper and a wire brush to distress the fireplace letting some of the brick show through a bit. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=distressing+a+painted+brick+fireplace
You can plaster the fireplace with concrete or lime plaster and tint it to give it a new look. https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=plastering+a+brick+fireplace
You could make a distressed pallet wall in your room colors around it ,,, https://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=pallet%20wood%20fireplace%20surround&rs=typed&term_meta[]=pallet%7Ctyped&term_meta[]=wood%7Ctyped&term_meta[]=fireplace%7Ctyped&term_meta[]=surround%7Ctyped I would be sure its the food grade pallets with an label of HT, the others can be toxic.
build a fire! that is what they are for
How about boarding around it with shiplap? Then you can choose whether to stain it, or paint it a color that fits.
