What are you trying to plant or what is it that you are trying to do?
I add vermiculite to my house plant soil, it holds water better. I do not use miracle gro, it has added fertilizer, I like to add when I think it needs it.....
you could add perlite or bark or vemiculite
Maybe vermiculite would work for potting soil too? Give it a try.

Just to use for your basic potting soil indoors maybe use a little outdoors just something very flexible
