How clean grout from a brick ?

hello all,
I just moved to my new APT and I was working on my new kitchen. part of the work is to glue the bricks on the wall 1 centimeter apart so that the grout would be seen(its part of the design).
I have 2 issues:
1. what is the best way to fill up the space between the bricks with the grout?(are there any special tools I could use for such a small space?)
2. how should I clean the grout from the bricks?
thanks a lot!

I would like to know as well. Has anyone used fake bricks that are real bricks but only about half the thickness?

When your adding the grout you should have a bucket of water and a sponge softly cleaning away excess grout. This will prevent the grout from sticking to the brick.

If it already dry... I'm not sure. :(

the problem is the "big" space between each brick which "force"me to use a lot of grout... the color of the brick is similar to the grout. it's dry in some of the parts and some parts not been done yet.

      thanks!

You can clean the grout off the brick or tile with Limeaway.

You are using a bag to apply the grout already. That's GOOD. Use a dowel, pencil, round handle, to smooth out the grout in the grooves. This is called "striking". As it starts to dry use a stiff brush to remove any that squeezes out and off the brick. It should flake right off. Try not to brush the grout lines. If there is any haze use a damp cloth or sponge to remove it. Cover the countertop to protect it.

Another thing, you could try putting the grout in a plastic storage bag and cutting a small part of a corner of the bag and pipe the grout into the space (like piping icing onto a cookie), thus getting less grout on the face of the bricks.

The logic behind the Limeaway is I figured grout contains lime so it stands to reason that a product that is designed to remove lime might work, and I was right.

This is how I do it: How to Clean Grout

    1. Remove surface dirt with hot water and a towel.
    2. Mix together ½ cup baking soda, ¼ cup hydrogen peroxide, 1 tsp dish soap.
    3. Spoon cleaning agents onto grout and let sit for 5-10 minutes.
    4. Scrub the grout lines with a brush. ...
    5. Wipe clean.

Fill a spray bottle with half vinegar and half water. Spray the tile and allow the solution to sit for a couple of minutes before wiping it away with a clean cloth. If dried grout reside does harden onto the tile, you can try to remove it using vinegar, a chisel, or a diluted sulfamic acid solution.
