They are metal aren't they? I have never been in a metal roofed building where you couldn't hear the rain. Maybe someone knows a way to muffle it.
Ive been told if it is installed right with insulation, they aren't that noisy. Insurance in Ks will give you 35% off your rate. It sounds inticing.

The plywood sheathing and underlayment used in home installation cut down the noise considerably, and metal roofs can even be installed right over an existing shingle roof, so the noise usually isn't bad.

If you are having a metal roof put on, please know that it will last so much longer than a traditional roof!!!
