You can see a bit of a sheen from its oils (unless covered in dust) which is what you do not want to make contact with.
I agree with some of the above. I always follow the rule: Leaves of three, leave them be. I hope you don't have poison ivy. It's very unpleasant. A couple of years ago, I thought I was pulling weeds along our fence. It turned out to be poison ivy. I had welts all over my hands and arms. And my lips swelled. I took some Benadryl . It worked for me.
