it's a 2 rod technique, top and bottom, the curtain needs to have a rod pocket on both ends. and the hardware to hold it in place on both ends. if you think it might het rained on go for a synthetic fiber for the curtains.

Dfm beat me to it! I was also going to suggest the two rods also. You can go with sheers to any kind of fabric you want. I have used the magnetic kind on metal doors where the curtains would fly around every time the door was open and it kept them in place really well. When I lived in Florida I would have loved to have French doors to the lanai instead of sliding glass doors. Love the pictures Barb just put up! You will find what you want. Enjoy your lanai, I know I loved mine!
Hello Sharon, My vote is for the two rod system. One on top and one on the bottom. I also like the curtains gathered in the center. You could also add a personal touch on top of that gathered part. My niece added flowers with ribbon and crystal beads on hers and it looked like a designer touch. Hope this helps you.
You could forgo curtains altogether by either etching a design in the glass, or a less permanent solution is to decoupage lace directly to the glass.
Unless you are sold on curtains, I would etch the glass in the French doors. You can find a stencil that you like and using etching cream, you can produce rather beautiful doors. Go to a craft store and look for the materials and instructions. Very easy.....
take pictures please
I got s pattern from McCall's on making curtains just for french doors. U could go into Joann Fabrics and check out their remnants. If u can't find enuf, check out their coupons. U could find some inexpensive fabric and use coupons or get some sale fabric!
GOOD LUCK!!
