My Pella glass sliding door open and close easily most of the time. On some occasions, they are very, very hard to open. What could cause that?

Sounds like there may be dirt in the tracks. Clean well and apply a silicon spray. If that doesn't help you may need to remove the door itself and clean the rollers on the top and bottom of the door.

Put Vaseline on the track. Your doors should slide well after that.

  • How often do you clean the tracks? I would clean them well and inspect to make sure everything is in working order and give them a good squirt of WD 40 and see if that solves the problem.

Yup, careful cleaning including regular vacuuming of the tracks, plus a lubricant of some kind rubbed on the track (I used bar soap or an old candle).

Clean the tracks and lubricant them. You can use pencil lead (graphite) to help them move more smoothly.
