his bedroom ? or the board and dirtbike?
Since he's 17 you probably don't want to do much that is permanent since he won't be there too many years. I would scout flea markets and garage sales for old skateboards and hang them horizontally on the walls as shelves. Then take photos of skateboards and dirt bikes and copy centers and have them blown up to poster size and put them in poster frames. Then select one of the colors from the posters and buy bedding and window treatments that match.
if his bedroom use old boards to make shelves... definately pics of him riding skating
I think you are asking how to decorate a boy's room who likes dirt bikes and skate boarding. If this is so, ASK HIM. Use his ideas, room color posters, etc. it's his room. You may have to modify or soften his ideas a bit, but let him be happy and comfortable while he's still living with you.
I agree with Sal85902. At 17 he should now what HE wants. He may surprise you and not want skate boards or dirt bikes at all.
Good luck!
@Fiddledd224 has it nailed. I would add, have a big storage bin with an old towel in the bottom for him to use as a shoe basket. Their shoes are often large, muddy, and smelly. I raised two wonderful messy and active boys to men. Put a stick-on deodorizer on the inside of the bin. Every time you see him take his shoes off, guide him to the shoe bin and have him drop his shoes in. If you are consistent, after a while he will be, too. Btw, I had to put my sons' bin next to the front door so they would take their shoes off before they hit the carpet than ran throughout the house. Hope my one little hint helps. Best wishes 😇
