Floating shelves on each side I believe is the perfect idea for small places where tables wont fit
Scaffold boards with Rope or Flag Edge.
you could trim them using thick natural rope, change up the handles, make new ones from rope.
Your sides of the bed, what is the space, measure it. Do you want lamps on both sides? You can buy narrow cabinets or narrow bookcases. You could use contact paper with a nautical print, or skip that and glue something on the front, such as a couple of sea shells, a seahorse, a wooden sailboat that is wooden and lays flat. If you have a Christmas Tree Shop near you, go there. This is approaching the end of summer, these things will go on sale. The cabinets, whatever color wood you choose, find ones that maybe have a small space on the top where you can display nautical nic-knacks. Good Luck!
Navy blue and white with red accents are classic nautical colors. Used in conjunction with rope trim you‘ll be off to a good start.
Visit a boating store or look online for boat hardware if you need drawer pulls, cabinet door handles or hooks to hang clothes or storage baskets from.
Why don't you make a platform bed instead and you can have storage under bed instead of taking up more space around your bed. And i only use 1 nitestand on 1 side of my bed as i don't really need more stuff in my bedroom taking up space.
Opt for a wall hung shelf behind the bed...sort of a sofa table effect without the legs. It will overhang the sides of the bed by whatever space you have available. Doesn't have to be wide...a 6" board will hold an alarm clock, water glass etc.
Lighting can be wall hung too, to free up the need for a table top surface.
Your nautical theme can come from accessories and /or art work. Ships lights come to mind here for the lighting.
Here's a few picture ideas. Add swing arm lamps or stationary ones. Drill one toward bottom on case to slip ala m clock cord through.
