Hi Rena, My only question is this: is there any way your swan neck faucet can swivel, because I do not think you are going to be happy with a stationary one even if it is located to be in the center over the divider. You will soon find that you will want ALL the water in one bowl or the other for whatever reason and won't be happy having to direct the water into the bowl you want it in. I think I would look for a swivel swan neck faucet. Other than that, ithink you have the bases covered :) You've put a lot of thought into this :) Thanks for using Hometalk, and enjoy your new kitchen "toys" :)
KattywhampusLOL, the faucet head swivels to each side and it even has a pull down spray feature. We thought that placing at the division between the bowls would give each side equal time. The only decision we want to be sure of is the handle. It's MUCH EASIER to install a faucet BEFORE installing the sink. LOL
Reading the other contributions I don't think we all have the same image of your concern. Perhaps if you provided a link to a picture of the "swan-like" faucet? What I am picturing sure isn't what Katty was picturing when he or she wrote their advice.
If you switch the standard "hot on left, cold on right" it will be potentially dangerous for anyone visiting you! My parents' water hookup is "backward" as you seem to indicate you may do for yours. I can't tell you how many times I, along with all others visiting, have burned ourselves thinking we were turning on cold water.
GG our decision was about the orientation of the handle to be placed forward, instead of to the right side. We've installed the sink & faucet and it works fantastically for both of us.
I have been left-handed for a very long time -73 years - I have difficulty as it is remembering which is hot and which is cold. I tend to turn on the left side no matter what I actually need.
HOWEVER, if you reverse the temps you will increase the confusion for EVERYONE!
And as stated above - consider the safety issue.
When you're dealing with these new faucets, that they want you to have the handle only on the Right side, the H & C are set backwards with C to the front and H to the back. Because we turned it to face forward, toward the sink, we needed to make safe, like you were concerned. We've installed it the way we wanted and our instincts were right. I've clicked on Hometalk Question Resolved, but the comments keep coming.
K, the reason we switched the H & C when we turned it to face forward is so that it will be Hot on the left and Cold on the right. This is because when it's supposed to be installed to the right side, they've got it backwards. We've installed it the way we wanted and our instincts were right. LOL! Thanks for the instructions Flipturn, but I know how to swap it. My parents won't let me do it as they're "used to it". Unfortunately, I'm not used to it hee hee hee
I'm a lefty and since I use the faucet the most, we mounted it backward so that the handle is on the left. It works well for our mixed family.
