Painting Entry Door

Question

I'd like to paint the door red but am unsure as to what color the trim should be. Any suggestions? P.S. the shutters will be black

Hello Mari :) Bwlow are pictures of houses I found after a total of about 15 minutes of searching that have red doors, white exteriors and black shutters, so you can get an idea of color trim around the doors, which I found to be black or white, with one exception of a muted green and one exception of a muted blue (but those last brick exteriors so they aren't pictured below). I just wanted you to be able to picture how your entrance would look. Thanks for using Hometalk for suggestions.

The trim color depends on what you want your front area to say. Asian-gold trim. Classic-white or grey. Whoop it up-bright yellow, green, pink, turquoise... Or you can match the trim to the main color of the house.

I think I would paint the trim black then and that porch, so get porch paint.

Personally, I think the shutters and door should match. I would paint trim red and the shutters too.

I would keep it white being its a door in casement and just paint the door, use a small foam roller (dollar tree or dollar general nothing fancy) it works best and it's going to look bubbley don't worry when it dry it will be a perfectly but you will need two coats. Paint your porch black add colorful rug and pretty wreath add two lanterns to the left one on top the other on the step. Its going to look amazing can't wait to see the final project. Oh Kmart and kirklands has real cheep lantern under $10 each 😊

I forgot another idea is to add trim and crown the top of the door frame for curb appeal and you can order pieces in white or any color or just the top piece. Here a photo of what im explaining
