Manni here from Manni's workshop. Cotton candy isn't only for the county fair or ballgame. Here is a DIY of how to make a cotton candy machine at home. Yummy! To get started you will need 2 soda cans, small drill chuck, washer, plastic bowl, dc motor or dc adapter, 9v battery, wires (black and red), battery clip, molten sugar for cotton candy :), switch. There are a few tools you will need - hot glue gun, soldering iron, and appliers.
There are Four parts to this DIY
1) Putting together the rotating piece
2) Preparing the bowl and connecting the rotator
3) Attaching the battery
4) Eating delicious cotton candy!
See the steps below and please watch the VIDEO at the end of the post to see all the details!
Begin by taking the two soda cans and putting masking tape around the bottom of one.
Cut the cans down to the tape. Be careful. The aluminum is very sharp.
Slide each of the can bottoms into one another. Make sure they are compressed well.
Poke a hole through the middle of the can bottoms and then slip the small drill chuck through with a washer.
Secure it very well. I used two wrenches to get it really snug.
Time to take out the plastic bowl. Use scissors to puncture a hole in the middle of the bowl. This is where we will connect the can contraption to the base of the bowl.
Use the glue gun to spread hot glue around the hole on the bowl.
Now, connected the rotating piece.
The next part is to attach the battery so the soda can rotating piece will rotate and make some delicious cotton candy
Attach the wiring
Finally it is time to enjoy some delicious cotton candy!
Here is how it came out

Have a question about this project?
How do I find you to get the answer????
does the motor push the sugar around how high is the motor
Really wanted to try this but the directions seem to be a bit lacking, and the video really didn't help. Maybe you can do a step by step narrated video? I would really like to get this right.
