Use Nail polish remover. It worked on my white carpet.

Blot carefully with polish remover on a cloth. Keep the area moist with water. If the carpet white you can use hydrogen peroxide to bleach it.
A high percentage rubbing alcohol may work...91 or 99%, not the 50% stuff from the $ store. I have used it to remove old paint off of carpeting. It may take a few applications and a brush. Don't scrub too hard. Just be persitent and blot, then reapply until gone. I remember a nurse removing my nail polish with rubbing alcohol at the hospital too. Good luck.
Thank you so much.
