We have a large holly tree in our back yard very near our deck. Every spring this tree attracts wood boring bees.
Any suggestions how to ward off the hole drilling pests? Can't remove the tree till the bee cycle is done......a bit perilous for the tree removal crew.

I don't think so.
Again the picture is blurry,if it flowers or has berries wait until finished
Need a close up of flowers, leaves and bark to be able to tell what this is.
Unless I am missing something, it looks tall and scraggy, I would cut the whole thing down. I hate berries, leaves, and any trash in my pool skimmer!
There is an app called Leafsnap that might help you identify it. It's a free app.
Pretty sure it's not holly. Fall and spring is usually when I do my pruning, but when we were temporarily living near Mobile, it never got cold enough for anything to go really dormant so I pruned anytime
Yes, it's kind of hard to tell what it is from the pic...reminds me of eucalyptus. Whatever it is it's a mess, and I have to agree with Bonnie that maybe the best thing would be to just take it all down. It looks like it's hiding some fern and maybe other pretty poolside foliage. 🌿
I also would rec emend that you cut the whole thing down as it looks like it could fall any minute. If it comes back you can always prune it to the size you want. Or if it turns out to be one you do not want then take steps to keep it killed.
Pic is blurry but looks like has red berries and small leaves. If so, I'm thinking it is a Yaupon Holly.
