First check outside your house for ant hills, this is where they start to come in underground. They have ant traps that have sticky on the back, and you stick them where ever you like. Stick one on the side of a cabinet, put one under the sink, and put them out (several) on the kitchen counter. If you think your cat will jump up on the counter, then put them away @ night. If you see an ant near a trap don't kill it. The ant will enter the trap, and bring the poison back to the rest of them. This takes about 1 week, so be patient. Where the ant hills are spray with a ant spray to kill them before they enter your house. Good Luck!
lemon juice.
you need a bate that can be put in small places like the edge of bass boards where your cat won't get to it. But it must be a bate spray will only make them move

Put ant traps under the frig and stove.
Cinnamon or cornmeal. If you can find the nest, you can use vinegar to kill them.
lemon juice or cinnamon or peppermint
Try to see how/where they're getting in and seal it with caulking. If you watch them for a while, you will be able to figure it out.
