I'm not sure if this would work, but have you tried hanging or tacking a sheet of plastic or even just a bed sheet to the door frame on the INSIDE of the door? Yuppers... it'll be a pain in your tookus every time you have to move it going back and forth, but if it works??
You can put a tension rod and use a insulated drape
How about using a tension rod and hanging a thermal curtain
ive done the thermal curtain for the last 4years here in house 3. Works very well.
can you install a door?
We owed a heavy type (towel material) shower curtain hung by a curtain rod. Keeps it up and the weight of the curtain keeps the cold out.
I'd put in an oak door. Not a trap door. It's not too expensive to have a handy man/carpenter come and install one. The money you save in one year would pay for it. If not, I'd put up a heavy blanket over the opening.
