Contact paper is a brilliant idea! White marble is huge right now.
There are some metal like contact papers specifically for covering appliances. Some look like stainless steel. One I saw was a pretty gray metal color.
Use a tension rod and hang a curtain!
If you can't use a tension rod, you can hang a simple (or not so simple) curtain rod with ceiling curtain rod hooks. Yep, that's really a thing now. Or a folding screen you can easily make. I better shut up or I'll go on and on and. . . . !

There a lot of window cling, wall cling designs out there and would be easily put up and removed. You could cut to fit door and surrounding area with your own design. Good luck.
