What's the best way to kill crab (bunch?) grass ??

I'd like a clean start for a bark dusted front yard, but don't want to kill the soil. Roundup and vinegar haven't been successful.

Ah, you didn't use enough vinegar. You need to drown it and reapply after every rain event. How about using agricultural vinegar? Round up can cause cancer, will not use anymore. Boiling water works well, but if you have a big yard that will be lots of kettles. You can hire a clean up crew to remove eveything and then as crab grass appears either dig out of kill with vinegar or boiling water.
