How do I refinish an old dresser?

    I have had good results washing the furniture with TSP (be careful and use safety glasses and heavy duty gloves) then lightly sand then stain. Good luck.

    if it's actual wood you are good to go....protect your floor. taked the drawers out, set to the side for now. how good is the current finish....is it paint or varnish....if varnish strip it. then decide if you are going to paint or stain and varnish. Put a primer on if you decide to paint, it will keep any of the previous finish from bleeding thru to the new finish. If you go with staining read the product instructions...some you rub into the wood others you paint on and then wipe up the excess.
