The easiest is to use a fogger! Hot Shot Fogger Odor Neutralizer is so easy. It works up to 2000 sq. ft. You can use DIY things, but they usually take longer and are for smaller areas.

You also should wash down walls, cabinets, doors etc., clean curtains, and shampoo carpets. If there is a cigarette smell, I'm sure there's nicotine stain everywhere. If you plan on repainting, use Kills first as a primer.

Start by lighting candles in all the rooms, if this is a household without kids. Open the windows, and be careful that the curtains aren't near the candles. If you have exhaust fans in the kitchen or bathrooms put them on about 1 hour after you light the candles. If you have candles, that have a fragrance, that will take away the smell, but then your house will smell of that. Use non-scented candles, and burn them about 2 hours. Good Luck!
