Acquire or cut a piece of 1/2" plywood the desired size (and shape), use spray on adhesive and glue either a piece of 2" batting (cut the size of the plywood plus 1" to round over the edge, cut a piece of upholstery weight cloth (medium to heavy weight) about 4" bigger than your plywood. Place the plywood/batting or foam piece face down on the cloth and pull the middle edges to the back of the wood and staple them to the back of the wood. (Think clock face: pull the edge from the 12, 3, 6 and 9 on the clock). Then pull the other edges to the back, keeping the tension even so no puckers, working on opposite sides each time. Attach two heavy duty hangers to the back, hang on nails or screws attached to the wall. Use extra fabric to make simple stuffed pillows to match the head board. You can make faux tufts by hammering 1/2 nails into the front of the headboard at even distances and either glue on self-covered buttons (go to fabric store for blanks to cover) or desired buttons. Your imagination is the limit on the fabric! These can look casual, with burlap or heavy plaid flannel types of fabric, elegant with velvet. You can even recycle fabric from the thrift shop, old curtains, blankets, etc.
So many ideas out there now. Old Doors hung sideways, Shutters... gosh how about sheer drapes from the ceiling down hung double, then take the outside layer and tie in a diamond pattern with a nice rope or ribbon.
Pallets from a local home depot paint and decorate to your taste cheap and easy
Cut the shape you want out of plywood and make sure you have it to the size you need. Then add batting to the wood and cover with a fabric that you like in the color you want. Attach to the back with staples. then attach to the frame.
