How do I prepare my plants for being in the house during the winter.

I have several plants that have been on the patio this summer that I wish to keep in the house. I want to prevent bugs from coming in. Also should I repot plants that are outgrowing their pots, eg the roots are growing out of the bottom. Thanks.

Re-pot the plants in the next size container with fresh soil,spray all the leaves down with horticultural oil,bring indoors and lace them by there light requirements
Before bringing them inside, soak them with a mixture of dish soap and put them in plastic bags. Tie the bags off and leave for a few days. This will kill off any insects. Mothballs also work well, just be careful of the fumes and disposal of the moth balls, especially if you have children or pets.
Move them to an area of reduced light to start acclimating them to less light. Protect them from night time chill till they acclimate to reduced light. A large cardboard box would be good shelter from chill. After a week, maybe two, they should be fine to go inside,
