I did that once! I planted the seed in potting soil mix in an indoor planter. It sprouted and grew into a tree. (Had to re pot several times!)
It made a really nice tree but never got a single lemon. :(
Lemon producing trees are grafted onto none producers. You'll have a beautiful tree like Kim's, but it too will never produce lemons.
I put the seeds between a couple of layers of fairly wet paper towel, then inside a small Ziploc bag but did not seal the bag to prevent mold.. it takes a while but I had three sprout and they are growing into pretty little lemon plants. If they become attached to the paper, just leave a little paper on them and plant intro a small container of good soil.
As stated above, you can easily grow a tree from the lemon seed but if you want lemons you need to purchase a grafted tree. They are grated onto sturdier root stock for healthy tree. But, hey, planting the seed and getting a nice tree with fragrant leaves is cheap and fun.
Its imperative that you buy organic lemons. They sprout easier...and do produce lemons on trees
Btw...it can take 5-7 years for 1st lemon to show up
