Hi Gabriella. I have planted lots of seed but not in such a big area. From my experience I would first investigate on what type of grass you would want to plant and works well in your area. I put down about 1" of top soil. I then use a spreader to distribute the seed evenly. There should be instructions on what setting to set your spreader to on the seed bags. Then I gently rake the seed in and always cover with hay. I have the best success when covering with the hay. Otherwise heavy rain fall can wash it out, or even birds eat it. I make sure it is watered everyday. The best time to plant the seed is spring or fall. Good luck and congrats!2 marked as helpful Reply- See 1 previous
