How about a corner cabinet? It's great extra storage and an opportunity for a special display.
What about additional seating? A banquette would provide additional seating and storage. Here are two examples:

How about looking for some of those wonderful plaques that are sayings? You know, like "FAMILY," or "LOVE"? They can be wood or metal. Black would be perfect!
a secretary would be pretty and multifunctional the upper cabinet has shelves for???, drawers to put your table cloth and napkins, and of course the pull down front with depending on cabinet design.., small cubbies, drawers, mail slots, room for your laptop. Perfect for those who do not have small office area.
why not just use floating shelves in its place?
gives you storage and style at the same time
Glad you like the idea. I got one from a friend of my mother's. Her son got divorced and neither party wanted it. I needed it for my living room and decided to put only white china in it (bowls, pitcher, creamer, special plates, etc.) and white silk flowers. All I need to do now is paint it a greyish-greenish-blue to go along with my occasional consoles from Home Goods. I put a small black and glass IKEA table and chairs in front of it, and that corner is a complete vignette that looks inviting. (P.S. I'm no decorator.)
Would you still be tired of it if you gave it a new color?
I'd create a sideboard out of floating shelves.
They sell them at Lowes. You anchor a brace into the wall and slide the shelf on.
I would look for a china cabinet to match the wood table top of the white chairs. Lots of them available in thrift shops for a song right now, as a lot of young people are opting for no china, or collectibles. They inherit them and discard the china cabinets. It would be something large to ground the space. Similarly there are open shelves ones out there as well. An alternative would be a corner china cabinet in the same space. Love the layout of your kitchen / dining area. Especially love the window.
I like the coffee station.
You can always paint the shelving unit. You can add burlap to the back to add interest and even stencil it.
An leafy indoor plant would look great there, bringing the outdoors in and creating a minimalist look.
